| Businesses can count on backing from the Urban
Community's network of economic development specialists. |
n Its Economic
Affairs Division ("Direction des Affaires Economiques") works hand-in-hand
with La Rochelle's Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Chamber of
Trades, the Charente-Maritime Departmental Council, the Poitou-Charentes
Regional Council, various state administrations and agencies, and
the University. The Division also maintains close relations with the
various employment services.

Once established in the area, businesses can find support in a network
of five business clubs created on the initiative of the Urban Community
and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
These clubs, driving forces behind the conurbation's commercial and
industrial areas, offer newcomers convivial opportunities to become
full-fledged members of the local economy.
The Urban Community's Economic Affairs Division has set up a task
force to promote and develop the business clubs. |
