On foot, by bike...
As far back as 1974, La Rochelle was well known for the fleet of yellow bikes available to the public on loan. Since that time, the system has won over thousands of users.
  • La Rochelle by bike... faster than by car
Give our yellow bikes a try
    - Fleet of 350 bicycles,
    - 2-hour loan free-of-charge,
    - 135 km of bike paths and lanes crisscrossing the conurbation and leading to its local schools,
    - You can leave your bike at any of the 850 bike racks located in the city centre and in the CDA towns.

  • Even better, by foot!
    - Take a leisurely, car-free stroll through pedestrian streets, squares and plazas.
    - Explore lanes and paths through the surrounding countryside that even some local people have not yet discovered.
    -
Historical tours under La Rochelle's arcades, invigorating walks along white cliffs from L'Houmeau to Esnandes, Lagord and its chateaux, Angoulins' saltern circuit, Marsilly in the footsteps of Georges Simenon...
    - 18 circuits in and around La Rochelle have been interconnected by the CDA's environment department and the Departement's hiking committee.
